What is VKANA?

VKANA (Vishwakarma Association of North America) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Vishwakarma community in North America, with a focus on promoting educational opportunities and cultural unity among families of Vishwakarma ancestry.

What is VKANA Scholarship Awards?

With the generous support of donors committed to helping Vishwakarma students, VKANA is offering two scholarship awards of $500 each for the 2024-25 academic year. These awards are intended for students of Vishwakarma ancestry currently enrolled as undergraduate, graduate, or PhD students in the USA.

Who is Eligible?

Students with Vishwakarma heritage who are currently enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or PhD programs in the USA are eligible. The applicant must have ancestry in one of the five traditional Vishwakarma crafts: Carpentry, Goldsmithing, Bronzesmithing, Blacksmithing, or Stonemasonry.

What is the Deadline for Applications?

The deadline to apply is December 31, 2024. Awards will be announced in January 2025.

Why is VKANA Offering This Scholarship?

VKANA aims to encourage and support Vishwakarma students in higher education, helping them achieve their academic goals while fostering a sense of unity within the Vishwakarma community across the USA.

Are There Any Language or Geographic Restrictions?

No, applicants from any region in India with Vishwakarma ancestry are eligible, regardless of language or regional background.

What is the Basis for Awarding the Scholarship?

The scholarship is awarded based on a combination of merit and financial need. Applicants meeting the primary eligibility criteria. Vishwakarma ancestry and current enrollment as a student in the USA, will be evaluated by a committee on both academic and financial grounds.

How Will Merit and Financial Need Be Evaluated?

A committee reviews each application, assessing both academic achievement and financial circumstances. The proportion of each may vary depending on the individual’s application, and the committee’s decision is final.

How Can I Prove My Vishwakarma Ancestry?

Applicants should have a parent or grandparent from one of the five Vishwakarma crafts. Selected applicants may be asked to provide supporting documentation, and the committee reserves the right to make the final determination.

What Documents Are Required?

No documents are required at the time of application. If shortlisted, candidates will be asked to submit documentation to verify their ancestry, academic achievements, and financial need. Please note that the burden of proof lies with applicant and the final decision on award is made by committee.

Will This Scholarship Be Given Every Year?

Yes, we plan to offer the VKANA scholarship annually, although the budget amount may vary each year. Application timelines will generally remain around the same period.

If I Receive the Scholarship Once, Can I Apply Again?

Yes, previous recipients are welcome to apply again. However, the decision to award repeat recipients will depend on the number of new applicants each year and the committee’s final decision.

Academic : Weighted GPA on scale of five for previous semester ,  SAT , GRE , GMAT total scores.
